Yes, you are all right, it is the brother (I only have the one) who is wanting to inherit my Jane. He has been taking a real interest in it, and this week has been coming over (we live next door to each other) every day to see if I have added another row. Today he was comparing Jane with the cover of the book and spotted the... ahem... difference! I wasn't quick enough to suggest that he could redo the offending block - I am sore, having has lung funtion tests this morning. But I told him it was going to stay, as I don't intend to redo it at this late stage. When we get to that week, I'll try and remember that mine is wrong, so that you don't all get worried about it.

I was telling my quilt group about it this evening, and one of them piped up and said it's a bit much that he is assuming I will go first! (But I am nearly 10 years older than him, so I suppose he has a point).

Lesley, how lovely to have someone soo interested in your Jane, you should get him to put a few stitches into it, either that or send him out to clean your windows as punishment for being picky?!? My brother died suddenly as a 32 year old many years ago and I envy you being so close to yours!

Sorry to hear you lost your brother at such a young age, Sara. I hadn't thought of getting mine to put in some stitches - perhaps I'll have a go at that.

I know this is off topic, but so many of you asked about the horrible 'parachute' skirt I was asked to put on a dress for a performance artist. I was finally able to get some pics of it last night. Couldn't sleep, so it's 6am and here I am organizing them for you.

WOW, now that is some dress. What I donīt understand is how does this woman think she is going to walk around the stage in in, she is going to take up the whole stage once it blows up and hopefully over her head (mean thought) but your friend is standing on a chair, now I know she is definately mad.

BTW super job nevertheless, I would have given up after the first round.

Believe me, Elle, I wanted too - I just felt I couldn't leave Gordon in the lurch, having done the first part. Now you can see how I decided that I HAD to buy a large table for my future quilts - I just couldn't crawl around on the floor any more. This was my straw that broke the camel's back.

Oh gosh Lesley!!! I'm ROTFLMAO over that skirt!! Where are the darn sausages????? You did a lovely job with it by the way....I'm very impressed....just can't figure out how she will wear the darn thing!! :roll:

Gordon is due to do the threading of the sausge skin. I have left an opening in the hem where the back seam is so that he can do that. Pulling it all the way round will be his problem - I have never seen empty sausage skins, so I'm not sure how tough they are, even though they feel that way when you are trying to cook them. Perhaps the artist will be escorted onto the stage by helpers, I have no idea on that point.

As for the table, I already have it - I went to an Irish, online office supply company, and got an 8ft x 30in melamine surfaced table with folding legs. It is extremely sturdy, in fact, rather heavy and I can't lift it by myself, (brothers come in handy for a few things). I was willing to be obliged to ask for help, in order to have the 8ft length. I considered the 6ft, but if I wanted to baste/pin a quilt on that, it would hang over both ends. With 8ft, that will mostly cope with all the sizes I am likely to make. It was €140 and they delivered it the following day - great service. I also think that I could make it higher with some kind of extenders on the legs, if I wanted to use it as a large cutting table. I just wish I had a sewing room large enough to have it up all the time. As it is, I do have it up in my dining end of the kitchen at the moment, but it isn't convenient to leave it there permanently. It will also go in my sitting room if needs be, and I can temporarily store in along one wall of my hall. I have a very large shed in the garden that is chock a block with my late father's 'stuff' and if I could get rid of all of that, it would go in there very nicely. (shed is 16ft x 10ft).

DCDinwiddie, please don't think we are mad going on about sausage skins etc, but it has been a fascinating saga. Glad to hear you are joining in the Jane, don't rush it too fast as you may tire of it. We are all at different stages.
